Ye be out sailin', lookin for adventure n booty, when Ye cross the path of that scallywag, Admiral Finius.  Ye engage in battle and lose, and Finius takes Ye aboard, holdin' Ye hostage less Ye can solve his problem.  He wants to be knowin whether his partly full barrel o' rum is more or less than half full.  Ye can't go spilling a drop of it, lest Ye walk the plank, and Ye ain't got nothin but the rags on yer back.  How can Ye figure it and go free?

Yay, Crispix!

Ye open the barrel and the rum line be right close to the middle.  Hard to judge if it be over or under.  Ye probly be needing to take another step or two to avoid the fishes.

Here be the answer I be knowin' to save the ire of Ol' Finius:

Open the barrel and tilt it till the rum touches the top. If see can see the bottom, that barrel be more'n half empty.  If Ye can't, it be more than half full!
